Meet Nora

Hi, I'm Nora.

Founder of Boot Scootin’ Line Dancing Birmingham · Operating Department Practitioner · Country music lover

Where country music brings people together.

The woman behind the boots

A little about me.

I've been dancing for as long as I can remember, with 12 years of Ballroom and Latin experience as well as Street Dance training. Music and movement have always been a huge part of who I am.

Alongside Boot Scootin’, I work in a hospital as a registered Operating Department Practitioner, specialising in anaesthetics within operating theatres.

Working in theatres has taught me to stay calm, communicate clearly, pay attention to safety and make people feel supported. Those are the same qualities I bring into every class.

I'm also a mum, a country-music lover and the Brummie Cowgirl. Outside class, you'll usually find me at a concert, planning a festival outfit, learning a new dance or bringing country fans together.

My favourite part of teaching is watching someone arrive feeling nervous and leave smiling because they achieved something they did not think they could do.

Boot Scootin’ is not just about learning dances. It is about creating a place where people feel welcome, make friends, build confidence and leave smiling. If I can help someone forget about life’s worries for an hour while dancing to great country music, then I have done exactly what I hoped to do.

New to it?

What is line dancing?

Line dancing is a style of dancing where people learn a sequence of steps and dance it together in rows or lines. You do not need a partner, and everyone faces the same direction and follows the same choreography.

Different dances are created for different songs, so one class can include everything from modern country hits to classic favourites. Some dances are very easy and repetitive, while others become more detailed as your confidence grows.

The best part is that you can come completely on your own. Once the music starts, everyone is doing the same dance together — which makes it social, welcoming and a lot of fun.

No partner. No pressure. Just learn the steps, enjoy the music and dance together.

Why Boot Scootin’ Exists

More than learning steps.

Country music and line dancing found me again at a time when I needed something that brought me joy. After being encouraged to teach, I took the leap and created Boot Scootin’ Line Dancing in Birmingham.

I wanted to create the kind of place where people could arrive on their own and leave feeling as though they had found their people. Somewhere complete beginners would never feel embarrassed. Somewhere cowboy boots and trainers were equally welcome, and laughter mattered more than getting every step perfect.

Boot Scootin’ grew around a simple belief: people learn best when they feel safe, supported and free to enjoy themselves. The classes may be beginner-friendly, but the heart of Boot Scootin’ is the confidence, friendships and memories that grow alongside the dancing.

It is not about being the best dancer in the room. It is about taking that first step, celebrating the little victories and finding a place where you feel welcome.

Come for the dancing. Stay because you belong.
